Meal Time

September 10th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in My Frenchies

It’s that time of the day where I have to prepare my dogs’ meals. As the internet should know, I feed them raw. So, two or three times a day I go into the kitchen to prepare their next meal. I thought of preparing it weekly or monthly, but the veggies lose a lot of their nutrients, so I mix them daily.

As usual, they will be at the kitchen door, pretending to be asleep (what’s up with that?) and when I go out, they immediately jump up and start licking their lips.

Yaza is an angel
Lies, lies… I’m an angel, woman, can’t you see?

I put down their bowls, filled with veggies and meat, or chicken necks and wings, or eggs, or fish, or just a wild mix. Sayid starts gobbling down his food right away. Yaza sniffs her food and kind of walks away. I get a piece of her food and wave it around Sayid, who is almost always nearly finished. Yaza, seeing that Sayid might get her food, starts eating the piece of food off my hand. Sayid is finished and wants to move to Yaza’s bowl. Yaza sees Sayid going for her food that she is ignoring, and only then she starts to eat, something a little bit like “I don’t really want it, but he can’t have it, so I’d better just get this over with already”.

Just another day with my crazy frenchies.

True Story. Believe Me.

A: So, where shall we go today?

B: I was thinking we shouldn’t spend that much money on food today, you know, let’s save some cash for that other thing.

A: You’re totally right. So, you’re thinking burgers, right? That costs what, 10 bucks tops?

B: Yeah, that would be great.

A: Although…

B: Although what?

A: Well, take another 3 bucks and we get 13 and that’s enough for pizza. And what are 3 extra bucks? Pff.

B: That’s a good idea! So, pizza it is–

A: But you know, 13 bucks, that rings a bell. If you add another buck, we can buy a 20-Sushi-Combo from that small place next to the mall.

B; And sushi is good… We haven’t had sushi for three whole days. That’s way too long.

A: Exactly. Except that the small place got kinda sucky. What do you say we go to that new place? We can do it if we add another four bucks.

B: But their combo is like, about fifteen sushis for this price. And that is 7 sushis and a half to each one. And I’m hungrier than that.

A: Well then, forget the sushi. Yakisoba! It feeds two hungry construction workers and it only costs about two or three more bucks. We can do that.

B: I see where this is going.

A: But, wait, don’t interrupt me, if we throw in another four or seven bucks we can get that deluxe barbecue thing you LOVE and– [goes on and on].

And that, Internet, is how you gain a whole lot of weight from being in a relationship. And I’m not even gonna say which one I usually am, A or B.

Party Crashers

We took a walk with Yaza by the beach today. I didn’t take Sayid because last time he was overexcited and puked his whole breakfast, plus a lot of white foam. I’ll take shorter walks with him around the block to make it up to him. Yaza is such a young lady and she doesn’t get too hyper like that. Plus she needs some light exercises.

Yaza was scared shitless by some clowns and mickey mouse, donald duck and spongebob custom dudes. Some people recognized her breed (rare) and some pointed at her, played with her, told me how cute she was and such. Others were afraid of the “angry, murderer pit bull” that she is. Just your average walk with a Frenchie in Fortaleza.

After that we met Ricardo who’s a cool Pit Bull breeder starting into the Frenchies world. He’s very nice and totally well-meaning. We talked for a while (his frenchie did throw up) up till the point I realized that with two Frenchies and an English Bulldog, most of our “walk” was spent on the benches, sitting and talking. That right there is one of the main reasons why I LOVE this breed.

Later we came back to my place and went to meet Fabi who was at a game party on the mall next to my place. Yes, I live next to a mall. Yes, it is perfect. Yes, I do go there almost everyday. No, I do not know how I have ever survived prior to living next to a mall.

So, we went to the game thing and besides playing our asses off, getting way too many game tickets and even finding some abandoned tickets around, we were invited upstairs to help with the “food situation”. The food situation was: food > guests. Need I say more?

Who the hell came up with a (dessert!) recipe that needs you to sieve cream cheese through a tiny net sieve?

I shall poke them with my sore fingers.

Why, sweet and beloved sushi, why must you be so yummy?

Must you even cross my path, O Dear Sushi?
