Back from the Show
Man, I am beaten! I can’t imagine how it feels like for those handlers that show more than five dogs. I handled my two females and I couldn’t have been more tired.
Looooo-hong story short, Yaza improved her presentation, she did not shake at all on the table, but there were other three females competing in her class, so she ended up behind. The female that was best junior was very nice looking, very cobby and fatty.
Mirabela was a story apart. She went okayish. She is very well behaved and pays attention. But I couldn’t get her ears to stay at a good position most of the time. She ended up going Best Female once. I’m quite happy with that. At the end of the show, we went home and the dogs are all napping, having eaten their meat. And to think that some of those dogs are going home to a kennel and/or a crate, only to leave again next december when we have a new dog show.
A friend of mine that breeds whippets (and is very damn good at it too) told me Mirabela was dirty-looking. Mirabela is a white/brindle pied frenchie, and I don’t have much experience with this coat color. In fact, this is only my second show showing my dogs. Anyway, what people here seem to do is to shower the dogs with some chemical substances. Some people will bleach their fur so it stays very white. I’m not sure if that’s common procedure around the world, but I’d rather Mira doesn’t win anything if it takes putting chemicals all over her body to make her prettier. How safe would that be? Please.
